Love Fall Color? Extend the Beauty for Up to Three Months by Following the Spacious Skies Campgrounds Fall Color Trail

Mesereau Travel Public Relations

Fall-color enthusiasts who love to camp and glamp can witness the progression of fall color from early September to late November by following the 15-stop Spacious Skies Campgrounds Fall Color Trail. The trail connects campgrounds from Maine to Georgia and highlights the specific trees and colors of each region as well as when to stay and when to move to the next location.

Beginning with a stop at Spacious Skies Balsam Woods in north central Maine in early September, and ending at Spacious Skies Savannah Oaks in Savannah, Ga., travelers who go the distance will spend up to three months enjoying the season while traveling just under 2,500 miles. Along the way, road trippers will be treated to the splendor of the East's lush hardwood forests of maple, birch, oak, ash, hickory, beech and other trees as they turn a multitude of shades of red, purple, orange and yellow.

“Observing the perennial beauty of fall color can be inspirational and rejuvenating, and when you add the authenticity of the destinations where the campgrounds are located, our guests can experience a wholly unique fall adventure,” said Ali Rasmussen, co-founder of Spacious Skies Campgrounds. “Even if travelers can only make one stop, the trail highlights the best time to visit each location when it is most likely to be exploding with color.”

Rasmussen noted that each of the 15 campgrounds along the Spacious Skies Fall Color Trail offers a different experience and distinctive vibe that celebrates its geography and nearby attractions. For example, Spacious Skies Minute Man – which was named one of the top 10 RV campgrounds in the U.S. by USA Today for two consecutive years – is located near the heart of Boston. Guests there can couple an urban diversion such as the famous Freedom Trail and Boston Harbor Cruises with traditional harvest-season adventures such as apple-picking.

And at Spacious Skies Hidden Creek in Marion, N.C. near Ashville, fall color can last considerably longer than most locations. The oaks, maples, birches and poplars of the region boast bright hues of gold, rust red and orange from early October to mid-November.

Calling all Glampers

Many of the campgrounds offer alternative accommodations for travelers who don't own RVs, including cabins, yurts, tent sites and at select locations, retro trailers. The popular yurts at Spacious Skies Shenandoah Views have been called some of the best yurts in the state.  Spacious Skies has also partnered with RV Share so would-be campers and glampers can rent RVs in each location or rent RVs that they can drive from place to place.

Stay and Save

Travelers who are members of the Spacious Skies Loyalty Program – called Cosmic Campers – receive a 12 percent discount on all RV site, cabin and glamping reservations, including holidays. The annual fee to join the program is $31.90 and enrollment is quick and convenient online.
